Leadership is not magnetic personality
-- that can just as well be a glib tongue. It is not "making friends and influencing
people" -- that is flattery. Leadership is lifting a person's vision
to high sights, the raising of a person's performance to a higher standard,
the building of a personality beyond its normal limitations.
...-- Peter Drucker
LD3 is a three-part development
series that's all about lifting, raising, and building our effectiveness as
leaders. Through a series of three workshops at one-month intervals, participants
get the rare chance to step away from business as usual -- and gain new ideas, new
insights, and new best practices.
This is a focused series that makes the most of people's time. The first session
typically fills a half day, and subsequent sessions cover 2-3 hours each. Participants
conclude each workshop by developing specific action steps, which they put into practice
during the four weeks before the next session. This is crucial because it turns learning
into an active and ongoing process with immediate benefits to the workplace.
Participants can come from a department, a mix of departments, a region, a leadership
team -- there are many possibilities. The same people attend all of the sessions.
In terms of content, LD3 takes a new look at the biggest challenges facing leaders
today:
- Satisfaction, Motivation, and
Engagement: These terms are used interchangeably, yet there are key differences.
LD3 participants build their understanding and gain skills for strengthening all
three of these factors.
- Change: Rarely does change
follow a linear path from status quo to desired state. It's much more complicated,
requiring traits and skills that are all about having vision, reading the environment,
building capacity, dealing with the unexpected, and using resistance to get smarter
and adjust course.
- Trust: When it comes to
teamwork and workplace relationships, there is no greater force than trust. In LD3,
participants learn how to leverage their emotional intelligence in order to build
trust over the long term.
- Learning: Ongoing improvement
requires constant learning. That's why effective leaders keep their eyes and minds
wide open to the many learning opportunities that unfold every day. LD3 shows why
learning is so important -- and gives practical techniques for absorbing and applying
the lessons in everyday situations.
- Workplace Culture: The best
workplaces emphasize commitment over compliance, trust over fear, and mission over
rules. They are empowering environments where people work together, make choices,
leverage their strengths, and pursue common outcomes. As LD3 unfolds, participants
gather the know-how and skills they need to build this kind of high-performance culture.
All content is tailored for a specific
group based on advance interviews with key people from the organization.
