Busyness and proximity
often conspire to limit the potential of a workplace. Think about your own organization:
Are people so busy with their everyday activities that they rarely have time to think
about ways to do things better? Regarding proximity, are they so close to their own
situations and circumstances that they can't see the big picture? Do you get the
sense that improvement opportunities are within easy reach -- if only people had
the extra time and a fresh perspective?
These are common problems, and the ASAP Process provides a solution. Designed for
busy organizations, it condenses what typically unfolds over two months of traditional
consulting, focusing it into one intense week of on-site interviews, analysis, and
breakthrough discovery. The aim is to give you an experienced outside perspective
-- efficiently -- so you can find those strengths and improvement ideas that
are waiting to be leveraged.
The week can focus on engagement, teamwork, trust, or another high priority. Or it
can take a wider look, scanning for a full range of opportunities to strengthen the
workplace. Tom Terez leads the process, bringing the knowledge and perspective that
come from having worked with 150 organizations over the years.
The exact timetable may vary depending on a variety of circumstances, but the following
serves as a default schedule for the ASAP Process.
- Day 1: Tom arrives and meets
with key contacts at the organization to review the process, finalize the schedule,
and answer any remaining questions.
- Days 2-3: ASK: Through
on-site interviews and focus groups with associates, Tom gathers information and
insights.
- Day 4: SYNTHESIZE: Tom
spends the fourth day off-site, reviewing the input and planning the next day's briefing.
- Day 5: ANALYZE + PLAN:
A concluding session brings together key people. Tom presents the findings, answers
questions, facilitates dialogue, and guides people in determining how they can best
put the discoveries to work. (Depending on the size of the organization and the intended
outcomes for this process, the session might be an informal sit-down conversation,
a more formal presentation with on-screen visuals, a session that's repeated with
different groups throughout the day, or something else.)
Tom Terez is a veteran consultant
and workshop leader. He has 20 years of experience conducting interviews, facilitating
focus groups, synthesizing input, uncovering key insights, and presenting information
in a way that gets to the point and prompts action.
